Vietjet orders another 30 new A321 aircraft at Dubai Airshow 2015

(Dubai, November 10, 2015) – Today, at The Dubai Airshow 2015, Vietjet inked a deal with aircraft manufacturer Airbus to purchase 30 more A321 jets (nine A321ceo and 21 A321neo), worth a total of US$3.6 billion.

Vietjet Chairwoman Nguyen Thanh Ha, President & CEO Nguyen Thi Phuong Thaoand Airbus Chief Operating Officer, Customers, John Leahy, all signed the contract at the prestigious event. This milestone aircraft order for more aircraft signals the airline’s breakthrough in terms of seat capacity growth and route network expansion.

Speaking at the signing event, Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao, Vietjet President & CEO, said: “Vietjet has grown faster than expected in the last few years and our previous purchasing plans for new aircraft could not keep up with developing demand. Together with the new aircraft order, we will continue to expand our network, customize services and facilities while still offering the lowest fares in order to ease the travel of people and tourists.”

“This additional order from the fast growing airline Vietjet confirms the success of the A320 Family as the preferred choice for airlines in the single aisle market”, said Fabrice Brégier, Airbus President & CEO. “We are delighted Vietjet once again selected the A321, our largest single aisle and the perfect partner for the airline’s continued impressive growth.” The A321neo is the largest addition to Airbus’s best-selling single aisle A320 family. The newly ordered aircraft will be delivered from late 2016 until 2020 to meet the airline’s operation expansion to Asian countries. Vietjet plans to receive from eight to 12 neo aircraft every year.
